Many people in the country, during their teenaged years,
experience the pain and eventual satisfaction of orthodontia through braces.
Since this technique was invented, orthodontists have made great strides in
improving the appearance of a person’s teeth with increasingly smaller braces
and brackets.
While it is true that braces have decreased in size since
they were first created, it is also true that they are still highly visible.
Many adults want to have their teeth straightened or appear straight but don’t
want the world to know that they are having their bite improved. These adults
may be more interested in veneers, Invisalign, or behind-the-teeth braces.
Veneers are the most popular option for individuals who want
or need a quick fix of the appearance of their teeth. These do nothing to
improve a person’s bite but do improve the cosmetic appearance of a person’s
teeth seemingly overnight. For an individual who wants his or her teeth to
appear straight and freshly white, veneers are the way to go.
Individuals who have a little more time and want to improve
their teeth cosmetically and dentally are more likely to want Invisalign. This
system uses a series of clear molds to move a person’s teeth into a better
position. It takes much longer but, overall, is an effective way of moving a
person’s teeth into place, so long as he or she remembers to wear the clear
tray.
Behind-the-teeth braces are a third option. These are less
common now that Invisalign has been developed but are just as effective. In
this option, the brackets and wires that embarrass adults with regular braces
are placed on the back side of a person’s teeth. They are much less visible but
still are not an overnight solution.
